Combining the perfect blend of history, luxury and nature is no mean feat but this is certainly the case at Farlam Hall.

This ethos continues into the stunning venue’s food and drink offer where you can indulge in fine dining at its Michelin-starred restaurant, enjoy flavoursome and classic dishes at the bistro or celebrate special occasions with its private dining.

Named after the ancient tree that stands proudly outside of it, the Cedar Tree’s high-quality cooking has been recognised by The Michelin Guide, awarding it one star in 2024.

Led by Hrishikesh Desai, the chef optimises the nature of the Cumbrian landscape, utilising an on-site kitchen garden, polytunnels and beehives, crafting exciting dishes that delight the tastebuds and tell a story.

Desai and his brigade take the very best local and regional produce to create dishes including Cartmel Valley venison, garden chard and chicken and Hodgson’s sardines.

Farlam Hall is also home to Bistro Enkel. Taken from the Old Nordic word, Enkel means ‘simple’ and the bistro has been designed to offer a more casual dining experience, marrying classic, uncomplicated dishes that are bursting with flavour with the freshest, local and regional produce.

Here’s where you’ll find homemade warming soups of the day, pot-roast pork belly and classic beer battered cod and chips.

After a long day exploring the Cumbrian countryside, you can quaff a well-earned drink at the Farlam Hall Cocktail Bar – the place to mix things up a little or stick to the classics.

Sample a blend of traditional favourites with innovative creations unique to the luxury venue including its very own Farlam Hall Gin, sitting alongside exclusive vintages, beers, spirits and liqueurs as well as an extensive list of wines and Champagnes.

In fact, the carefully curated wine list comprises a collaboration of specifically chosen wine merchants to help ensure the wide breadth has something for every palate.

An offer that certainly puts ‘delightful simplicity with oodles of class’ at the fore, making Farlam Hall a worthy winner of the 2024 Food & Drink Award.
